Overview

About Chhattri

Chhattri (also spelled Chhatri) is a village in Thunag tehsil, Seraj, Mandi. It is known for the wooden Magru Mahadev temple, which combines a pagoda with a mandap. The sanctum walls are Kath-Kuni masonry and rise as a three-tiered pagoda. The mandap is carved throughout with episodes from the Ramayana and Mahabharata (hpmandi.com). A five-day Chhatri Mela is held every year from about 16 to 20 August, with local deities and folk singers.
